THE COLOUR OF CALM

2020
Porcelain

The Colour of Calm is inspired by the dusks and dawns in both Singapore and Taiwan and how they are really the same, even if they seem different at first.

Taken together, the seven vessels may be interpreted to be a week’s worth of dusks and dawns.

Individually, the contrast and contours of the exterior and interior also create a landscape of their own.

This work debuted in To Return From Sojourn, my first solo exhibition back in Singapore after half a decade of splitting the seasons between Singapore, my childhood home, and Taiwan, the birthplace of my studio practice. The exhibition features 4 works, each focusing on a different visual element. Child’s Eye View is a play on the element of colour.
